This series includes several pieces, which were created with graphite and colored pencils. Below, you can explore the different artworks and the stories behind them.
Watercolor Sunset Volcano
This watercolor- and liner art shows a volcano erupting into the sunset. The slanted lines represent rain, as the artwork was inspired by the following quote from the book "Miss Iceland" by the Icelandic author Auður Ava Ólafsdóttir:

The Ocean's Eye
This pencil art features an erupting volcano as the pupil of an eye, which represents the ocean. A small boat is on the ocean watching the volcano erupt. This artwork was in part inspired by the quote of the Icelandic poet Jónas Hallgrímsson (1835):
“… and sometimes islands rise out of the sea,
Where chasms previously dwelt”.
This artwork was further inspired by the performance of the Swedish rock band Smash Into Pieces at Melodifestivalen 2025 in Sweden. Their song "Hollow" contained the following lyrics: "There is a sunrise somewhere in your cold eyes". And I thought it would be great to have a volcano eruption somewhere in a cold eye of the ocean!

Faroe Islands & Volcano
This pencil art is inspired by a visit to Listasavn Føroya (The National Gallery of The Faroe Islands) in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands. During this visit, I learned about the ways the ties between the Faroes and Iceland are presented in the Faroese mythology. I thought, what if the Faroes had a volcano like Iceland? How would the folklore stories develop then? I drew a volcano in an aesthetic that is out of my style and is meant to look more realistic, since the scene is also inspired by a photo I took during a 2025 helicopter ride over The Faroe Islands, from Tórshavn to Klaksvík.
